Valentine's Day 2021 in lockdown
Valentine's Day 2021 in lockdown
The start of the year is always a bit of a tough time for many people with tax or Christmas credit card payments due, festive lights taken down and the weather not really helping. 2021 has been particularly grim, as we've all been in lockdown, unable to access the things we'd normally do to make us feel better, whether that's drinks with friends or getting away for some winter sun. However, the show must go on and with Valentine's Day just around the corner, what are you going to do to make sure that this year isn't a complete damp squib? These are some of our suggestions for a feel-good Valentine's Day 2021, whether you're with your partner, apart or on your own.
Make the most of the distance
If you're not going to be with your lover this year then flip the sadness of that separation on its head and make it romantic instead. This is the year to really go to town on surprise flowers - or write a heartfelt, hand written love letter and send it in the post. Have a virtual date and get creative about it, from ordering each other's favourite food to watching the same film at the same time or signing up for a special online couple's yoga class.
Book yourselves into a virtual event
Whether you're together or not Valentine's Day is the ideal time for something like chocolate or champagne tasting or a fancy cooking class. Pick something your Valentine will love and then look online to find the best option. There are currently many different virtual events to experience - for example, if you book a champagne or chocolate tasting you'll get sent everything for the tasting and then have a live guide through the session itself (make sure you don't eat/drink it all before the tasting starts..).
Have a Palentine this year
If you're a fan of Secret Santa then you'll love this - get a group of friends together and put all your names into a virtual hat. Everyone picks out a name and then buys a secret gift that will be delivered on the 13th. Then, on Valentine's Day jump on a video call together, open your gifts, drink wine, eat food, play a quiz or online game and share your best and worst love life moments.
Focus on the food
Food has become even more of a joy for many of us during the lockdowns of the past 12 months. Even though restaurants are currently shut that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy your favourites in the comfort of your own home. A vast number of restaurants now offer home meal kits where you can recreate their menu without much effort required. That includes some of our favourites as letting agents in Hackney, including dumplings from The Laughing Heart and handmade pasta from Popham's Hackney.
Treat yourself
Valentine's Day is a hugely commercial event and if you're just not interested in participating in the purchasing then why not just use the day to celebrate all the things you love about yourself instead. Make a playlist of all your favourite songs, watch your favourite films, do your favourite exercise class or chat to your favourite people. Squish all of this into a single day on Feb 14th and we guarantee you'll end up feeling utterly loved at the end of it.
Storeys letting agents in Hackney provide extensive services for landlords and tenants looking for property in this area.
