Islington Square Development
Islington Square Development - London's New Neighbourhood
Islington is one of London's most popular boroughs. Since 2011, the local population here has increased by 11%, and 3% annual increases are expected between now and 2029. If you've ever spent any time in Islington this probably won't come as much of a surprise. Cosmopolitan and ridiculously well populated with eateries and amenities - yet with a surprisingly local feel - this part of London is somewhere that people tend to want to put down roots. Before now, Islington has been very much known for its terraces, not all of which are in great shape. The new Islington Square Development is something totally different and, as Islington letting agents, we're excited about what it offers to anyone lucky enough to live in it.
The history of Islington Square Development
Not that long ago, the Islington Square Development was the North London Royal Mail sorting and delivery centre, a useful but not especially glamorous or welcoming location. It has since been redeveloped to create 263 new homes and 108 serviced apartments, as well as 170,000 square feet of retail, dining and leisure amenities. The development is just a 10 minute walk from Angel Underground station and has quick connections to just about anywhere in London thanks to its prime central spot.
Why we love it
- The aesthetic. From the penthouses to the studios, the homes in this development come with tons of character. The original sorting office dates back to Edwardian times and many of the properties have kept their original features.
- The variety. The Islington Square Development offers a wide range of different types of properties, from affordable one beds through to the lavish penthouse spaces.
- It's very London. If you really want to feel like you're living in the heart of the city this development is for you - it combines the elegance of London a well as an industrial edge thanks to the warehouse aesthetic of many of the apartments.
- The convenience. It's not just the fact that this development is incredibly well placed that makes it so appealing - wherever you work or socialise in London will be only a short journey away - but also the amenities on site. Think Covent Garden style shopping, cinema, a gym and great coffee all just a few steps from where you live.
- It has great heritage. Living in Islington means taking up residence where many other famous faces and culturally relevant people have before you, from Charles Dickens to Charlie Chaplin.
